Under Australia’s universal visa system, ALL VISITORS to Australia must have a valid visa to travel to and enter Australia.
New Zealand passport holders, who will normally be granted a Special Category visa on arrival, provided they meet health and character requirements: Department of Immigration: Fact Sheet 17: New Zealanders in Australia.
Applying for a Visa
There are many visa options available to people wishing to visit Australia. The appropriate visa option will depend, amongst other things, on the person’s purpose for visiting Australia.
For the purpose of attending the 2014 IEEE Workshop on Statistical Signal Processing, the participants may wish to consider applying for one of the following visas, based on their citizenship:
eVisitor visa, ETA or Visitor (Subclass 600) visa in the business visitor stream
eVisitor visa, ETA or Visitor (Subclass 600) visa in the business visitor stream should be used by conference participants.

Letter of Invitation
In some cases, attendees may require a letter of invitation from the organizing committee to facilitate the processing of the visa. The letters of invitation will only be issued once conference registration and payment has been received.
