Students enrolled in combined Engineering/Science degree and major in Mathematics should seek advice from the Department of Mathematics on mathematics subjects required to fulfill the science component of their degree.

Operations Research Major

Semester 1: 620-261 Introduction to Operations Research

Semester 2: 620-262 Decision Making

Applied Mathematics Major

Semester 1: 620-221 Real and Complex Analysis or

Semester 2: 620-252 Complex Analysis
OR
620-222 Linear and Abstract Algebra

Pure Mathematics Major

Semester 1: 620-221 Real and Complex Analysis

Semester 2: 620-222 Linear and Abstract Algebra


Fourth year

You should complete 100 Science points, with at least 50 points of 300-level Mathematics subjects.

Operations Research Major

Semester 1: 620-361 Operations Research: Techniques

Semester 2: 620-362 Applied Operations Research

Plus at least two of 620-301 Stochastic Modelling, 620-341 Dynamical Systems & Chaos, 620-352 Graph Theory, 620-381 Computational Mathematics.

Applied Mathematics Major

Semester 1: 620-331 Applied Partial Differential Equations

Plus at least three of 620-332 Integral Transforms & Asymptotics, 620-341 Dynamical Systems & Chaos, 620-342 Industrial & Applied Mathematics, 620-352 Graph Theory, 620-381 Computational Mathematics.

Pure Mathematics Major

Semester 1: 620-311 Metric Spaces AND 620-321 Algebra.

Plus at least two of 620-312 Linear Analysis, 620-322 Topolgy, 620-351 Number Theory, 620-352 Graph Theory.

Fifth Year

The elective in Semester 2 may be taken as technical
OR
non-technical.
