Elective Subjects

There are 6 elective subjects in the BE program. Two subjects (25 credit points) MUST be non-technical subjects. The remaining four can be either non-technical or technical subjects.

Non-technical subjects include management and language subjects. Generally non-technical subjects come from the Faculties of Arts, Commerce and Law. Students should check that there are no timetable and pre-requisite constraints.

Technical subjects are generally from the Faculties of Science and Engineering. Subjects at 200-level or 300-level are taken, depending on timetable and pre-requisite constraints.

Subjects not approved by the Department of Electrical & Electronic Engineering will not be counted in the degree.

615-120 Information Systems in Organizations
615-160 Tools of Analysis

620-160 Experimental Design and Data Analysis
620-370 Statistics for Mechanical Engineers (except where a student has failed 431-325 Stochastic Signals & Systems)

702-473 Introduction to CAD
702-208 Digital Design Modelling
705-273 CAD in Landscape Architecture

Non-technical subjects approved by the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering include:

136-028 History of Astronomy
136-031 Science, Philosophy and History
136-029 Darwinism
136-040 Fact, Fiction and Fraud in the Digital Age

145-009 Effective Communication for Engineering

Language subjects: note many of these are 18.75 credit points
