What is Endeavour?

Endeavour’s premier event is an exhibition of final year Electrical, Software and Mechatronics projects to be held in Wilson Hall on Wednesday 26th of October. The exhibition will bring together University students and staff, secondary school students, industry members, technology enthusiasts and the general public to celebrate the achievement of final-year Engineering students. It will showcase exciting and innovative technology and research in the fields of electronics, communications, photonics, sensors, biomedical and software engineering.

Endeavour also encompasses the Endeavour Adventure Schools Program which will involve approximately 400 secondary students this year from various local and rural schools. The program will include visits to participating schools to make a presentation about the University, Engineering and the Endeavour Exhibition as well as an interactive excursion for students to the exhibition with an organised tour of the exhibition and engineering project labs, a presentation, competition and lunch.

Endeavour also aims to bridge the gap between students and industry, organising various industry events throughout the year, in addition to the Endeavour Excellence Awards and Industry Evening on the night of the Exhibition. A new initiative of Endeavour2005 is 'Inside Endeavour', a mid year event offering our premium sponsors the opportunity to meet the future's best engineers in an informal setting. The afternoon includes tours of the University's new project labs, affording the chance to personally view the product development process, and meet high achieving third and fourth year students. It is a valuable opportunity for students to verbalise their creative processes to the industry they are soon to join.

Endeavour2005 Goals

  • To provide a world class exhibition for final year students to display their achievements and share their innovative and creative ideas.
  • To bring university, secondary schools, industry and the wider community together to experience projects at the forefront of technology.
  • To lift the profile of The Department of Electrical Engineering and The University of Melbourne as leaders in the pursuit of innovation in technology.
  • To inspire secondary and tertiary students to pursue Engineering and inform them of the exciting career opportunities it provides.
  • To bridge the gap between industry and university students, providing opportunities for industry interaction and recruitment.
