We're developing a medical image viewer & analysis tool. At its simplest, the user shall be able to load and view 3D (medical) images, though not necessarily in 3D. For example, they may just view the images in 2D 'slices'.

This alone is nothing particularly new, however, the project endeavours to aid cancer research in an original way by automating some fundamental tasks, such as measuring the size of a tumour. The hope is that the researchers will then have more reliable data to analyse the effects that drugs/etc have on cancers, not to mention be able to obtain that data very quickly.

deally the code will also have been designed and written in a way that allows the researchers to later on easily modify the algorithms involved in automating tasks.
