CSSIP Research Centre


Welcome to the Melbourne node web-site of the Cooperative Research Centre for Sensor Signal and Information Processing (CSSIP). Information regarding CSSIP and other CSSIP research programs is available at the CSSIP Headquarters web-site.

CSSIP's mission is to benefit Australia, its people and its industry in the field of sensor signal and information processing, through world-class research, development and application.

There are 6 aims that CSSIP strives to achieve:

  1. National Benefits: Improve Australia's economic competitiveness in strategic industries through applicaton of sensor signal and information processing.
  2. Collaboration: Focus, through collaboration, the complementary skills and talents of outstanding researchers towards the national objectives of economic and social development, internationally competitive industry and cost effective national security.
  3. Commercial: Ensure a commercial focus for the Centre's programs, and effect the transfer of technology to industry, through collaborative applied research and development programs, fully or partially funded by industry.
  4. Research: Provide leadership and focus within Australia for basic applied research in sensor signal and information processing and maintain the Centre as a national asset, internationally recognised for its achievements and capabilities.
  5. Education: Maintain a training and education program that fuses theory and application, utilises the diverse skills of DSTO, universities and industry, and provides opportunities for graduate students to participate in user oriented programs.
  6. Participating Organisations: Ensure that the Centre contributes to the strategic objectives of each participating organisations:
