Research and Industry

The Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering is a vibrant and dynamic environment that encourages excellence in research specifically in the areas of Telecommunications and Signals and Systems. Its research strengths are in:
  • Telecommunications
    • Mobile and wireless networks
    • Telecommunication systems
    • Network design and performance monitoring
    • Optical communication systems
    • Information theory
  • Signals and Systems
    • Mathematical systems theory
    • Control systems
    • Signal processing and radar tracking
    • Biomedical engineering
    • Optimization and numerical methods

The Department provides a world class environment for research collaborations with industry. It receives financial support from industry, government and other sources and has a number of research agreements through Federal Government programs such as Cooperative Research Centres, an ARC Special Research Centre and Centres of Expertise. Through these Centres the Department has very close links to other universities and industry.

Other programs will include research into sensor networks, networking technologies, information processing and network management.
