Top-Up Scholarships

MSL has a Top-Up Scheme to sponsor high calibre postgraduate research projects related to the key areas of sensor networks and sensor scheduling. The scheme offers:
  • An attractive top-up allowance of up to $6000 per year for three years subject to satisfactory progress.
  • An experience to work on leading edge research projects with leading researchers from Australia and the United States.
  • A potential career in an exciting and rapidly developing area of research.

Eligibility: Students should have a basic APA or similar scholarship and be willing to work on MSL research projects under the supervision of MSL staff.

HPPD Scholarship of $23,000 p.a.

A PhD scholarship is being offered by the Human Protection and Performance Division (HPPD) at the Defence Science and Technology Organisation (DSTO) for the study of problems arising from the estimation of hazards due to chemical, biological or radiological materials using spatially distributed sensors.  It is anticipated that the course of study will include aspects of statistical signal processing, modelling and experimental design for field trials.  This work is part of a collaborative project between MSL and the HPPD. 

Amount: $23,000 a year for 3 years

Eligibility: Students should have an honours degree (H2A or above) or a research masters degree in electrical engineering or applied mathematics.
