Suhas DiggaviOpportunistic Coding for Wireless CommunicationOver the past decade, there has been significant progress in reliable high data-rate wireless transmission using multiple antenna architectures. Such architectures can be used to trade-off transmission rate and reliability (error probability). We show that one can design strategies that achieve both high transmission rate as well as high reliability by embedding data streams appropriately. In particular we show that using such strategies, for some cases, one can design "ideal" opportunistic codes, that adjust to the channel realization without knowing it a-priori. We give results and some code constructions that relate to this idea.
