Two Steps Towards Capacity

What is the equivalent of Shokrollahi's check-concentrated ensemble for the general case? Starting from intuition gained by considering the component-wise EXIT functions for transmission over the BEC, I will in a first step show what is the most important criterion in order to get close to capacity. In the second step we start attacking the many technical hurdles that need to be overcome in order to transform this insight into reality.
